On what date was Operation Olympic scheduled to begin before Japan surrendered?

The story behind the answer

Operation Olympic was scheduled to begin on November 1, 1945, before Japan surrendered.

Olympic was the planned first stage of Operation Downfall, the proposed Allied invasion of Japan. Its objective was to land on southern Kyushu, capture territory and airfields, and prepare the way for Operation Coronet against the Kanto Plain near Tokyo.

The date was known as X-Day in the invasion planning. Olympic was expected to involve a huge naval and ground force, including dozens of aircraft carriers and hundreds of escort vessels. Japanese forces were also reinforcing Kyushu in anticipation of an Allied attack.

Japan’s surrender made the invasion unnecessary. Emperor Hirohito announced Japan’s acceptance of the Potsdam Declaration on August 15, and the surrender was formally signed on September 2. March 1, 1946, belongs to the tentative schedule for Coronet, not Olympic.
