On what date was Michael released in the United States?

Michael was released in the United States on April 24, 2026.

The film is a biographical musical drama about Michael Jackson, focusing on his rise from performing with the Jackson 5 in the 1960s through the Bad tour in the late 1980s. Lionsgate handled the film’s U.S. theatrical release, while Universal Pictures managed international distribution.

The date is easy to confuse with April 22, when Michael opened in the United Kingdom, or April 10, when it premiered in Berlin. A premiere is a first public screening, not necessarily a film’s national release date. The film’s American release also followed earlier schedules that had placed it in 2025 before delays and reshoots changed the timetable.

Michael stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew, in his feature-film debut as the adult Michael. Juliano Krue Valdi portrays Jackson as a child.
