On what date was Doctor Who’s “The Pandorica Opens” first broadcast?

The story behind the answer

Doctor Who’s episode “The Pandorica Opens” was first broadcast on 19 June 2010.

It is the twelfth episode of the programme’s fifth series and the first part of a two-part finale. Steven Moffat wrote the episode, while Toby Haynes directed it. The story brings the Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond, Rory Williams, and River Song into a mystery involving the Pandorica, an apparently ancient prison.

The episode’s cliffhanger leads directly into “The Big Bang,” broadcast one week later on 26 June 2010. Together, the two episodes form the conclusion to Matt Smith’s first series as the Eleventh Doctor.

The date can be confused with the date of the concluding episode or with later Doctor Who stories that also use the Pandorica in their continuity. “The Pandorica Opens” itself was broadcast on BBC One as part of the 2010 series.
