Answer
June 29, 2001
Answer
June 29, 2001
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction was released in North America on June 29, 2001.
The expansion was developed by Blizzard North and published by Blizzard Entertainment as an add-on to Diablo II. It continued the original game’s story after the defeat of Diablo and added a fifth act set in the snowy northern lands of Mount Arreat.
Lord of Destruction introduced two playable classes: the Assassin and the Druid. It also expanded Diablo II with new skills, items, runes, hireling equipment, and a larger shared stash system. The expansion required the original Diablo II game to play.
The release date is sometimes confused with the dates for Diablo II itself, which launched for Windows in 2000, or with later regional releases. Lord of Destruction is also distinct from Diablo II: Resurrected, the 2021 remaster that includes the expansion’s content.
