Answer
19 July 2026
The final round of the 2026 Open Championship was scheduled for 19 July 2026. The tournament was planned for 16–19 July at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England, with the final round taking place on Sunday.
The 2026 event was the 154th Open Championship and the eleventh time the major had been staged at Royal Birkdale. The course last hosted the championship in 2017, when Jordan Spieth produced a dramatic final-round comeback to win the Claret Jug. Earlier Birkdale champions include Peter Thomson, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson and Pádraig Harrington.
The Open is normally played over four days, from Thursday through Sunday. The first two rounds are used to determine the cut, after which the remaining players compete on Saturday and Sunday. The final round is especially important because it determines the Champion Golfer of the Year and the recipient of the Claret Jug.
The date can be confused with 20 July, but the 2026 calendar placed the closing round on Sunday, 19 July.
