Answer
May 21, 2012
The House, M.D. series finale aired on May 21, 2012.
Titled “Everybody Dies,” the finale ended the eight-season drama and focused on House’s crisis after Wilson received a terminal cancer diagnosis. The episode used a patient case and a series of imagined or hallucinated figures to examine House’s choices and his resistance to change.
The ending also resolved the central friendship between House and Wilson. House appeared to die in a fire, but secretly survived so he could spend Wilson’s remaining months traveling with him. The public explanation allowed his colleagues to believe he was dead while giving the two friends freedom from hospital and legal pressures.
The finale followed “The C-Word,” which aired as the preceding episode. Together, the episodes concluded the series’ medical cases and its long-running character arcs.
