On what date did Pokémon Go first launch in any country?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon Go first launched on July 6, 2016.

The augmented-reality mobile game was developed and published by Niantic in partnership with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. Its GPS-based design lets players find, capture, train, and battle Pokémon while moving through real-world locations.

The first launch took place in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. The game then expanded through a staggered international rollout rather than arriving everywhere on one day. Japan received the game on July 22, 2016, and many other territories followed during the summer.

The date is sometimes confused with July 22 because that was the Japanese launch date. Pokémon Go also had a major early surge in downloads and public attention, but its first official availability began more than two weeks earlier in the initial launch countries.
