On what date did House M.D. first premiere on Fox in the United States?

The story behind the answer

House M.D. premiered on Fox in the United States on November 16, 2004.

The medical drama began as a midseason-style launch built around Dr. Gregory House, a brilliant but abrasive diagnostician at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. Its first episode, “Pilot,” introduced House and his original diagnostic team to viewers.

The series was created by David Shore and developed with executive producer Katie Jacobs and actor Hugh Laurie, who played House. Although the show is set in New Jersey, much of its early production used hospital and campus locations in Los Angeles.

The premiere date is sometimes confused with the date of the British television debut or with the dates of later season premieres. House M.D. ultimately ran on Fox from 2004 to 2012, ending after eight seasons.
