On what date did Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere at the Dolby Theatre?

Avatar: Fire and Ash premiered at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre on December 1, 2025.

This was the film's world premiere, a red-carpet event attended by James Cameron, returning cast members, and other filmmakers and guests. The Dolby Theatre, located in Hollywood on Ovation Hollywood's Hollywood Boulevard complex, is best known as the longtime home of the Academy Awards and is one of the industry's most prominent premiere venues.

The premiere date is different from the film's general theatrical release date. Avatar: Fire and Ash opened commercially in the United States on December 19, 2025, giving the production an 18-day gap between its world premiere and its wide release. It also had additional international premiere events, including stops in Europe.

A common mix-up is to select December 19 because that was the public U.S. release date. Other nearby dates can also appear in reporting about press events or international premieres, but the Dolby Theatre world premiere itself took place on December 1.
