On what date did America250’s official celebration activities begin in 2025?

America250’s official celebration activities began on July 3, 2025.

The date marked the opening of the year-long lead-up to the 250th anniversary, one year before the central Independence Day commemoration. Events then continued through 2026, culminating on July 4, the anniversary date tied to the Declaration of Independence.

This date is distinct from June 14, 2025, when the United States Army held a 250th-anniversary parade in the Washington, D.C., area. The Army event was described as a soft launch connected to the broader national anniversary but was not the formal America250 opening date.

The distinction matters because America250 includes several overlapping anniversaries and organizations. The congressional Semiquincentennial Commission, America250 programming, military observances, and later White House initiatives do not all share the same start date.
