At the start of “The Dundies,” Michael raps to Naughty by Nature’s 1991 hit “O.P.P.”
Michael Scott performs a Dundies-themed parody of the song as he opens Dunder Mifflin’s annual awards ceremony. His version reshapes the familiar call-and-response hook into “You down with the Dundies?”—a deliberately awkward showcase of Michael’s confidence, showmanship, and limited understanding of rap culture.
“O.P.P.” was released by New Jersey hip-hop group Naughty by Nature in August 1991 as the lead single from the group’s self-titled second album. The song became a major crossover success, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Its title is commonly interpreted as an abbreviation for “Other People’s Property,” while the lyrics use the phrase as a coded reference to infidelity.
“The Dundies” is the first episode of The Office’s second season. Michael also performs parodies connected to “You Sexy Thing” and “Tiny Dancer,” but the opening rap specifically comes from “O.P.P.”
