On the first 2026 U.S. semiquincentennial quarter, which 1620 agreement is depicted?

The story behind the answer

The first 2026 U.S. semiquincentennial quarter depicts the Mayflower Compact.

The Mayflower Compact was signed in 1620 by English settlers aboard the Mayflower before they established Plymouth Colony. It outlined a framework for self-government and mutual cooperation among the settlers, making it an important document in the history of colonial political organization.

The coin is part of the United States Semiquincentennial coinage created for America250. Production of the 1776–2026 quarters began in December 2025, and the United States Mint announced the Mayflower Compact quarter’s release into circulation on January 5, 2026.

The Mayflower Compact is not the same as the Declaration of Independence, which dates to 1776 and announced the colonies’ separation from Great Britain. It also differs from the Treaty of Paris, which ended the Revolutionary War in 1783.
