On "Seinfeld", whose dance is well known for its weirdness?

On "Seinfeld," Elaine's dance is well known for its weirdness. Her famously awkward routine appears in the season-eight episode "The Little Kicks," when Elaine dances at a company party and horrifies her employees and friends.

The episode originally aired on October 10, 1996, and is the 138th episode of the series. Elaine assumes people lose respect for her because George is present, but Jerry and Kramer eventually confirm that her dancing is the real problem. The routine combines stiff arm movements, unusual body motions and small kicks, creating a deliberately graceless performance.

Writer Spike Feresten based the idea on a former boss whose dancing included little kicks. Julia Louis-Dreyfus developed the choreography herself. The production later added Earth, Wind & Fire's song "Shining Star" in post-production because filming while staying synchronized to music made the scene difficult.

The dance became one of Elaine Benes's signature comic moments and is often simply called "the Elaine dance."
