Miller plays Sal, the intimidating and deeply passive-aggressive doorman at the apartment building where Elaine is house-sitting for Mr. Pitt. Jerry’s attempt to visit Elaine turns into a prolonged dispute with Sal over access, manners, and who has authority in the lobby.
Miller was a veteran stand-up comedian whose sharp, observational delivery made him a natural fit for the role. He was also a close real-life friend of Jerry Seinfeld and had been one of the finalists considered for George Costanza before Jason Alexander won the part.
