On "Seinfeld," the fictional film described as "a young girl's strange, erotic journey from Milan to Minsk" is titled "Rochelle, Rochelle."
The movie is first introduced in "The Movie," when Jerry sees a trailer while trying to reach a theater showing another film. The title and sensational tagline are deliberately vague, making Rochelle, Rochelle sound like an art-house movie with an unusually broad European itinerary. George, Jerry, and Elaine eventually end up watching it after their plans repeatedly go wrong.
Rochelle, Rochelle returns as a recurring fictional piece of Seinfeld mythology. George rents it on videotape in "The Smelly Car," and it later becomes a Broadway musical starring Bette Midler in "The Understudy." The other choices are also fictional films from the series: "Chunnel" appears in another storyline, while "Sack Lunch" and "Prognosis Negative" are separate Seinfeld movie references. "The Movie" first aired on January 6, 1993, during season 4.
