On "Friends", who did Ross buy his new apartment from?

On Friends, Ross got his new apartment from the character known as the Ugly Naked Guy. The apartment was across the street from Monica and Rachel's place, making it the perfect vantage point for one of the show's biggest revelations.

The storyline appears in the fifth-season episode “The One Where Everybody Finds Out,” which first aired on February 11, 1999. Ross is living with Joey and Chandler after his marriage to Emily falls apart, but he becomes interested when he sees Ugly Naked Guy moving out. He discovers that the apartment is being sublet and tries to secure it with a basket of mini-muffins.

Ross's modest bribe is almost laughable beside the gifts offered by other applicants, including a pinball machine and a mountain bike. He ultimately wins Ugly Naked Guy over by joining him naked and sharing the muffins. The episode is often remembered for Monica and Chandler's secret relationship, but Ross acquiring this apartment drives the closing gag: he sees Monica and Chandler through the window and angrily shouts, “Get off my sister!” The character's real name is never revealed in the series.
