On "Friends", what soap opera was Joey on?

On "Friends," Joey Tribbiani was on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives." He played Dr. Drake Ramoray, a neurosurgeon whose dramatic storylines became one of Joey's biggest career breaks.

Joey first lands the role after years of struggling as an actor. The part gives him fame and a steady income, but his character is eventually killed off when Drake Ramoray falls down an elevator shaft. Joey later returns to the show in increasingly improbable storylines, including a plot involving brain transplantation.

The title is sometimes written with varying capitalization, such as "Days of Our Lives" or "Days Of Our Lives," but both refer to the same long-running NBC daytime drama. A common mix-up is confusing Joey's fictional role with the real soap opera itself: Joey played Dr. Ramoray, not a character named Joey Tribbiani.
