Lucky actor Timothy Olyphant starred as Raylan Givens in the FX series Justified.
Justified premiered in 2010 and ran for six seasons, ending in 2015. Olyphant plays Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, a sharp-dressed, quick-drawing lawman reassigned to his native Eastern Kentucky after a controversial shooting in Miami. The series combines modern crime drama with a Western atmosphere.
Raylan was created by novelist Elmore Leonard. The character first appeared in Leonard’s novels Pronto and Riding the Rap, while Justified was chiefly based on the short story “Fire in the Hole.” Olyphant also served as an executive producer and returned to the role in the 2023 limited series Justified: City Primeval.
A common mix-up is Olyphant’s role in Deadwood, where he played Sheriff Seth Bullock. He also appeared in Damages and Fargo, but neither series featured him as Raylan Givens.
