Junior's Restaurant is headquartered in which Brooklyn neighborhood?
Answer
Downtown Brooklyn
Answer
Downtown Brooklyn
Junior’s Restaurant is headquartered in Downtown Brooklyn.
The restaurant’s original and flagship location stands at 386 Flatbush Avenue Extension, at the corner of DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn, New York City. Junior’s is especially famous for its dense, creamy New York-style cheesecake, but the restaurant also serves deli sandwiches, burgers, blintzes and other diner staples.
Harry Rosen founded Junior’s in 1950, although the Rosen family had operated a diner at the site since 1929. The business remains family-run: Harry’s grandson Alan Rosen is its third-generation owner. The name “Junior’s” reportedly honored Harry Rosen’s two sons, Walter and Marvin.
A frequent mix-up is to identify Junior’s with other Brooklyn neighborhoods because the chain has expanded beyond its original site. It has operated locations and outposts in Manhattan, Connecticut and elsewhere, but the landmark restaurant associated with the brand is in Downtown Brooklyn. Its cheesecake recipe uses sponge cake rather than the graham-cracker crust common in many American cheesecakes.
