Jianbing is listed as a dish from which country?

The story behind the answer

Jianbing is listed as a dish from China.

This popular Chinese street food is a thin, folded breakfast crêpe made by spreading batter on a hot griddle, adding an egg, sauces and fillings, then folding it several times. Common additions include scallions, coriander, pickles, chili sauce, hoisin sauce, fried crackers or youtiao.

Jianbing is particularly associated with northern China. The traditional form is linked to Shandong, while Tianjin developed the well-known jianbing guozi, often made with mung-bean flour and filled with a fried dough stick. Regional versions vary in flour, texture and toppings, so “jianbing” describes a family of related preparations rather than one fixed recipe.

A popular legend connects its origins with the Three Kingdoms period and the strategist Zhuge Liang, but that story is not the same as firm historical proof. Modern jianbing has also spread internationally, where vendors sometimes add fillings such as cheese, bacon or pulled pork.
