Ivan Rodriguez won a World Series with what team?
Answer
Florida Marlins
Answer
Florida Marlins
Ivan Rodriguez won a World Series with the Florida Marlins.
Rodriguez, widely known by his nickname “Pudge,” joined the Florida Marlins for the 2003 season after more than a decade with the Texas Rangers. His veteran leadership and defense helped a young Marlins team navigate the postseason, and he was named Most Valuable Player of the National League Championship Series.
The Marlins defeated the New York Yankees four games to two in the 2003 World Series. Rodriguez contributed as the team’s catcher and recorded the championship as the first World Series title of his career. Florida’s unexpected run was especially notable because the club entered the playoffs as a wild-card team rather than as a division winner.
Some readers may remember Rodriguez appearing in another World Series with the Detroit Tigers in 2006. That team lost to the St. Louis Cardinals, however, so the Florida Marlins are the correct answer for the championship he won. Rodriguez later entered the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017, recognized for his exceptional hitting, throwing and game-calling behind the plate.
