In 'Winnie-the-Pooh', what is the donkey's name?

The story behind the answer

The donkey in Winnie-the-Pooh is named Eeyore. He is an old, grey, anthropomorphic donkey who lives in the Hundred Acre Wood and is one of A. A. Milne's best-known characters.

Eeyore is usually portrayed as gloomy, pessimistic, and frequently unlucky, but he is also thoughtful, caring, and capable of deep friendship. His detachable tail, fastened with a pink bow, is a recurring joke in the stories because he often loses it. His name echoes the braying sound associated with a donkey; in non-rhotic British pronunciation, the spelling “Eeyore” does not require a pronounced r.

Eeyore first appeared in Winnie-the-Pooh, published in 1926, and was inspired by a stuffed donkey owned by Milne's son, Christopher Robin. He also appears in The House at Pooh Corner. Owl, Tigger, and Piglet are separate characters: Owl is a bird, Tigger is a tiger, and Piglet is a small pig.
