In which year did the Disney television series Goof Troop first premiere?

The story behind the answer

The Disney television series Goof Troop first premiered in 1992.

Goof Troop was an animated sitcom centered on Goofy and his son, Max. The series placed the traditionally solitary Goofy in a suburban setting and explored his friendship with neighbor Pete, whose family included his wife Peg and son P.J. This format gave Goofy a family and neighborhood life that differed from his earlier theatrical shorts.

The show debuted in 1992 as part of a major period of Disney television animation. Its interpretation of Max later carried into the feature films A Goofy Movie and An Extremely Goofy Movie, although those movies tell their own stories and are not simply episodes of the television series.

Viewers sometimes date Goof Troop to 1993 because the first feature film followed soon afterward or because international broadcasts used different schedules. The series itself is identified with 1992, the year of its original Disney television premiere.
