Mickey Mouse Works first premiered in 1999.
The Disney animated television series debuted on May 1, 1999, and presented new short cartoons starring Mickey Mouse and other classic Disney characters. Its format deliberately returned to the tradition of short theatrical cartoons rather than building every episode around one long continuous story.
Mickey Mouse Works followed the success of earlier Disney television projects and helped provide a modern showcase for characters such as Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto. Some of its segments were later reused or repackaged in other Disney programming.
The series is sometimes confused with House of Mouse, which premiered in 2001 and used a nightclub setting to bring many Disney characters together. Mickey Mouse Works was earlier and focused more directly on individual animated shorts.
