In which year did House M.D. end with its final episode?

The story behind the answer

House M.D. ended in 2012 with its final episode, “Everybody Dies.” The finale aired on May 21, 2012, after the series had completed eight seasons.

The show’s conclusion came after a major run on Fox that began with its 2004 premiere. During that period, House became known for unusual diagnostic cases, a rotating medical team, and the central performance of Hugh Laurie as Gregory House.

The year can be confused with 2011 because the series’ eighth season began during the 2011–12 television season. Television seasons often cross calendar years, but the finale itself was broadcast in 2012. It is also separate from the dates when individual cast members left or when earlier story arcs concluded.

The final episode closed House’s narrative while preserving the importance of his friendship with James Wilson. The program’s complete run therefore spans the calendar years 2004 through 2012.
