In which year did Google introduce its current simplified “G” logo?

The story behind the answer

Google introduced its current simplified ‘G’ logo in 2015.

The multicolored capital G was launched in September 2015 as part of a broad visual identity update. Google’s designers created it to work clearly across small screens, app icons, browser tabs, and other digital environments.

The mark uses the same blue, red, yellow, and green palette associated with Google’s wordmark. Unlike the earlier standalone lowercase ‘g’ used in some applications, the new symbol is a single capital G formed from colored segments.

The 2015 redesign accompanied a major change in Google’s corporate structure: Alphabet became the parent company, while Google continued as its largest operating company. The logo is sometimes mistaken for the older 2010 wordmark, but that wordmark and the current G symbol were introduced during the same broader rebranding period rather than being identical designs.
