In which year did Apex Legends launch?
Answer
2019
Answer
2019
Apex Legends launched in 2019. Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts released the free-to-play battle-royale game on February 4, 2019, initially for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
The launch was deliberately sudden. Rather than following a long traditional marketing campaign, Respawn revealed Apex Legends and made it available immediately. The game was set in the Titanfall universe but introduced a new cast of playable Legends, squad-based combat, a ping communication system, and a class-driven approach to battle royale gameplay.
The surprise release produced an unusually fast surge of interest. Respawn later reported reaching 1 million players within eight hours, 10 million after three days, and 50 million within 24 days. The first season followed in March 2019, beginning the game’s long-running live-service cycle of new Legends, maps, weapons, and events.
A common mix-up is 2020, which was the year Apex Legends expanded to additional platforms, including Steam and Nintendo Switch-related releases. It was not the game’s original launch year: the worldwide debut was in 2019.
