Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital is located in New Jersey in House M.D.
The hospital’s fictional name points toward the Princeton area, and the series establishes its setting in the state of New Jersey. Gregory House, his colleagues, and most of the patients therefore work within a New Jersey hospital environment, even though the show was filmed in California.
The location helps distinguish House M.D. from medical dramas set in New York, Boston, or Chicago. Princeton-Plainsboro is fictional, but the production used recognizable real-world architecture, including Princeton University’s Frist Campus Center, for the hospital exterior.
