In which Super Bowl did Tom Brady win his first Super Bowl MVP?

Tom Brady won his first Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl XXXVI. The New England Patriots defeated the heavily favored St. Louis Rams 20–17 on February 3, 2002, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans.

Brady was only in his second NFL season and had become the Patriots’ starter after Drew Bledsoe was injured. He completed 16 of 27 passes for 145 yards and one touchdown, avoiding a turnover against the Rams’ high-powered “Greatest Show on Turf” offense. With the score tied late, Brady led New England into field-goal range, allowing Adam Vinatieri to win the game with a 48-yard kick as time expired.

The victory gave the Patriots their first Super Bowl championship and launched the Brady–Bill Belichick dynasty. A common mix-up is confusing this award with Brady’s later Super Bowl MVP honors: he also won in Super Bowls XXXVIII, XLIX, LI, and LV.
