Tom Brady became the NFL’s first unanimous MVP in the 2010 season.
Brady’s 2010 campaign earned him the Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player award with every vote, making him the first unanimous winner of the honor. He directed the New England Patriots to a 14–2 regular-season record and produced one of the league’s most efficient passing seasons, throwing 36 touchdown passes against only four interceptions.
The award was Brady’s second NFL MVP, following his 2007 selection, and it came during a remarkable turnaround. In 2008, he had missed nearly the entire season with a knee injury, then returned in 2009 to win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award.
The 2010 Patriots lost to the New York Jets in the divisional playoffs, so the unanimous MVP season did not end with a championship. Brady later won a third MVP in 2017, but that vote was not unanimous. The 2010 distinction is therefore a specific voting milestone, not simply a reference to his most famous championship years.
