In which Paris building is the Musée Rodin located?

The Musée Rodin is located in Paris’s Hôtel Biron.

The building is an eighteenth-century mansion formerly known as the Hôtel Peyrenc de Moras. Rodin began using rooms there in the early twentieth century, while the surrounding grounds provided space for displaying large sculptures. The setting became closely associated with his late career.

In 1916, Rodin agreed to give his works, collections, and personal papers to the French state. In return, the state promised to preserve the Hôtel Biron as a museum devoted to his art. The museum opened to the public after his death.

The Musée Rodin also administers Rodin’s former home and studio at Villa des Brillants in Meudon. Visitors commonly associate the Paris museum only with the mansion, but its collection and administration extend beyond that single site.
