In which ocean is the Bermuda Triangle located?

The Bermuda Triangle is located in the Atlantic Ocean, specifically in the North Atlantic. It is a loosely defined region commonly drawn between Florida, Bermuda and Puerto Rico.

The triangle became famous during the mid-20th century through magazine articles and books that portrayed disappearances of ships and aircraft as mysterious or supernatural. However, the Bermuda Triangle is not an officially recognized geographic region, and its supposed boundaries vary widely between accounts. That means whether a particular incident occurred “inside” it can depend on which map is used.

Investigations by the U.S. government, scientific organizations and writers such as Larry Kusche found no convincing evidence that the area is unusually dangerous. Hurricanes, sudden weather changes, strong currents associated with the Gulf Stream, shallow reefs and human error provide ordinary explanations for many incidents. The North Atlantic also carries heavy commercial and recreational traffic, increasing the number of accidents likely to be associated with the region.
