Marvel’s Daredevil primarily takes place in Hell’s Kitchen, a neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. The series follows Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who uses his heightened senses to fight criminals at night as Daredevil, especially in the neighborhood where he lives and works.
Hell’s Kitchen is more than a backdrop: it shapes the show’s grounded crime-drama tone. The first season centers on Wilson Fisk’s criminal organization and its plans to control the neighborhood through violence, corruption, and redevelopment. Murdock and Foggy Nelson operate their law office there, while many of Daredevil’s patrols and confrontations occur on its streets, rooftops, and in local buildings.
The show is still set within the wider Marvel version of New York, so characters sometimes travel elsewhere in Manhattan or beyond. That does not change the neighborhood’s central role. “The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen” is also one of Daredevil’s established nicknames.
