In which New Mexico community did Georgia O'Keeffe make her home at Abiquiú?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe made her New Mexico home and studio at Abiquiú.

She discovered the area during visits to New Mexico and eventually acquired a historic adobe house there. The property, known as the Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio, became her winter home and an important working place from the late 1940s onward.

The house is especially associated with a courtyard wall and door that O'Keeffe repeatedly photographed and painted. Its architecture, surrounding landscape, and carefully controlled views became part of her visual vocabulary. The site is now preserved as a National Historic Landmark.

Abiquiú and Ghost Ranch are neighboring but distinct places in O'Keeffe's New Mexico story. Ghost Ranch was her famous retreat and source of many paintings, while Abiquiú was the community containing her home and studio. That distinction prevents a common place-name mix-up.
