In which French town did Auguste Rodin die?
Answer
Meudon
Answer
Meudon
Auguste Rodin died in Meudon, a town just southwest of Paris.
Rodin lived and worked at the Villa des Brillants in Meudon during the later part of his life. The property became closely associated with his studio, domestic life, and large collection of sculptures and fragments.
Meudon was not merely a place of death: it was also the site where Rodin maintained an important working environment away from central Paris. He died there on 17 November 1917.
Visitors sometimes associate Rodin’s final years only with the Musée Rodin in Paris, but the Meudon site preserves a separate part of his legacy. Rodin and Rose Beuret were buried near the house beneath The Thinker.
