In which country is the Sepang International Circuit located?
Answer
Malaysia
Answer
Malaysia
Sepang International Circuit is located in Malaysia.
The circuit lies in Sepang, in the Malaysian state of Selangor, close to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. It is roughly 85 kilometres from central Kuala Lumpur and was designed by German architect Hermann Tilke. The track officially opened in 1999 and quickly became one of Southeast Asia’s most important international racing venues.
Sepang hosted the Malaysian Grand Prix from 1999 through 2017, helping establish Malaysia on the Formula One calendar. Its long straights, heavy braking zones and wide layout made it a demanding test of engines, tyres and aerodynamic efficiency. The circuit also hosts major motorcycle racing, including the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
A common mix-up is confusing Sepang with Singapore’s Marina Bay Street Circuit, another Southeast Asian venue that hosted Formula One. Sepang is Malaysia’s permanent circuit, while Marina Bay is a temporary street track. Sepang’s location near the airport also makes it a practical gateway for international motorsport events.
