Taylor Swift recorded most of The Life of a Showgirl in Sweden.
Swift worked with producers Max Martin and Shellback at MXM and Shellback Studios in Stockholm. The sessions took place during the European leg of the Eras Tour in 2024, with additional recording connected to the album’s Swedish production team.
Sweden was an important setting because Martin and Shellback are Swedish hitmakers who had previously collaborated with Swift on songs from albums including Red, 1989, and Reputation. Their reunion shaped the album’s polished pop and soft-rock sound.
The country is sometimes confused with the specific recording city: Stockholm was the principal city, while Sweden is the country. Some additional instrumental work was completed at Studio 112 in Jonstorp, also in Sweden. The album was later released internationally through Republic Records.
