In which continent is Qatar located?

Qatar is located in Asia, specifically in West Asia on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.

Qatar is a small peninsula extending northward into the Persian Gulf. Its only land border is with Saudi Arabia to the south, while the Gulf surrounds the country on its other sides. This position places Qatar firmly within the Asian continent and the broader Middle East region.

The country’s geography helps explain some common mix-ups. Qatar is an Arab Gulf state, but “Arab” describes cultural and linguistic identity, while “Asia” describes its continent. It is also sometimes confused with Africa because both regions have hot, dry desert climates; however, Qatar lies across the Arabian Gulf from Iran and near Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
