In which city is the Hockey Hall of Fame, home to Stanley Cup displays?

The story behind the answer

The Hockey Hall of Fame is in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The museum is located in downtown Toronto, inside Brookfield Place near the intersection of Yonge and Front Streets. Its exhibits preserve hockey history and display major trophies, including the Stanley Cup. Visitors can see championship memorabilia, portraits of honoured players and exhibits covering the sport’s development in Canada and beyond.

The Hall of Fame was established in 1943 through the efforts of James T. Sutherland, who originally advocated for Kingston, Ontario. It moved to Toronto in 1958 after the NHL withdrew support for a permanent Kingston location. A permanent building opened at Exhibition Place in 1961, and the institution relocated to its current downtown home in 1993.

Toronto is sometimes confused with Ottawa or Montreal because all three cities have deep Canadian hockey histories and NHL teams. The Hockey Hall of Fame is not the same as the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame, although the Toronto museum has hosted international hockey exhibits and honours.
