In which city is Casa Batlló located?

The story behind the answer

Casa Batlló is located in Barcelona, Spain.

The building stands at 43 Passeig de Gràcia, one of Barcelona’s most celebrated avenues, in the Eixample district. Antoni Gaudí remodelled an older house there for textile industrialist Josep Batlló between 1904 and 1906.

Casa Batlló is part of the Illa de la Discòrdia, or “Block of Discord,” a stretch containing several important works of Catalan Modernisme. Nearby buildings include Casa Amatller by Josep Puig i Cadafalch and Casa Lleó Morera by Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

A common mix-up is confusing Casa Batlló with Gaudí’s other Barcelona landmarks, such as Park Güell or the Sagrada Família. Those are also in Barcelona, but Casa Batlló is the distinctive townhouse with a rippling façade, bone-like balconies and a dragon-inspired roof. UNESCO added it to the World Heritage list in 2005.
