J.K. Rowling’s stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premiered in London in 2016.
The play began previews at the Palace Theatre in London’s West End on 7 June 2016 and officially opened on 30 July 2016. Its story is set nineteen years after the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Harry is an adult and works at the Ministry of Magic, while his son Albus Severus Potter begins at Hogwarts. The play focuses on the relationship between Harry and Albus, as well as Albus’s friendship with Scorpius Malfoy.
The script was credited to Jack Thorne, based on an original story by Thorne, Rowling and John Tiffany. The production was presented in two parts at its original London engagement. It later transferred to other cities, including New York, but London was the premiere location.
