The United States’ next Tricentennial after America250 will occur in 2076.
A tricentennial marks 300 years. Since the national anniversary commemorates the 1776 Declaration of Independence, adding 300 years gives 2076. That year will also be 50 years after the 1976 Bicentennial and 50 years after the 2026 Semiquincentennial.
The word tricentennial comes from “tri,” meaning three, and “centennial,” meaning a 100-year anniversary. It should not be confused with semiquincentennial, which denotes 250 years, or with sesquicentennial, which denotes 150 years.
Philadelphia already has historical time-capsule traditions tied to future anniversaries, including capsules associated with the 1976 Bicentennial. The 2076 milestone will likely prompt its own nationwide observances, but those future plans are distinct from the America250 programs organized for 2026.
