In what year was Warren Buffett born?

The story behind the answer

Warren Buffett was born in 1930.

He was born on August 30, 1930, in Omaha, Nebraska, the second of three children and the only son of Howard Buffett and Leila Stahl Buffett. His father was a businessman and U.S. congressman, and the family’s connection to finance helped expose Warren to business and investing while he was still young.

Buffett’s interest in money-making ventures developed during childhood. He read books about business, sold chewing gum and newspapers, and began studying stock prices. At age 11, he bought three shares of Cities Service Preferred, an investment often described as his first stock purchase.

After high school, Buffett attended the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School before graduating from the University of Nebraska. He later earned a master’s degree from Columbia Business School, where he studied under Benjamin Graham, a major influence on value investing. The year 1930 is sometimes confused with the birth years of other prominent investors, but Buffett’s full birth date is August 30, 1930.
