In what year was the puzzle globe Wikipedia logo first introduced?

The story behind the answer

The puzzle globe Wikipedia logo was first introduced in 2003. It emerged from an international contest held after Erik Möller proposed finding a logo suitable for Wikipedia editions in every language.

Paul Stansifer’s winning concept showed an unfinished globe made from multicolored jigsaw pieces, symbolizing Wikipedia as a project continually being built. David Friedland, known on Wikipedia as Nohat, later refined the design by removing the colors and placing one character or symbol from different writing systems on each piece.

The design was adopted by the English Wikipedia on 26 September 2003 and was used until a three-dimensional redesign appeared in 2010. The 2003 version also contained several typographical and script-related mistakes, including problems involving Devanagari, Kannada, and Japanese katakana characters. The year 2001 is a common mix-up because Wikipedia launched that year, while 2010 refers to the later 3D logo redesign.
