In what year was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time first released?

The story behind the answer

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was first released in 1998.

Nintendo launched Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 in Japan, North America, and Europe during 1998. It was the first main Zelda game to present its adventure in a fully 3D world, allowing Link to explore Hyrule from a third-person perspective and battle enemies in three dimensions.

The game introduced important mechanics such as the Z-targeting system, which helped Link focus on enemies and interact with objects in a 3D environment. Its story also moved between Link’s childhood and adulthood, with the Master Sword serving as a key transition point.

Ocarina of Time is often confused with Majora’s Mask because both are Nintendo 64 Zelda games. Majora’s Mask followed in 2000. Ocarina of Time’s original release year remains 1998, although later versions appeared on the GameCube, Nintendo 3DS, and other Nintendo platforms.
