In what year was J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series finale published?

The story behind the answer

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series finale, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was published in 2007. Bloomsbury released the British edition on 21 July 2007, while Scholastic published the American edition on the same date.

The seventh novel concludes Harry’s effort to destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes and brings the conflict between the Order of the Phoenix and Voldemort’s forces to its decisive stage. Unlike the earlier books, much of the story takes place away from Hogwarts as Harry, Ron, and Hermione search for the remaining Horcruxes.

Deathly Hallows became one of the fastest-selling books in publishing history. Its release followed Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which had appeared in 2005. The cinematic adaptation was divided into two films, released in 2010 and 2011, allowing more of the lengthy final book to appear on screen.
