In what year did Wikipedia reach 50 million articles across all languages? Wikipedia reached 50 million articles across all language editions in 2019. The milestone was recorded on March 9, 2019.
This figure counts articles across Wikipedia’s language editions rather than only the English Wikipedia. At the time, the total covered 309 language editions and represented the project’s global scale.
The milestone is distinct from major English Wikipedia milestones. For example, English Wikipedia reached six million articles in January 2020, nearly a year after Wikipedia as a whole passed 50 million articles.
The stored answer of 2020 likely confuses the 50-million global milestone with a later English-language milestone. The correct year for reaching 50 million articles across all languages is 2019.
