Vogue launched its official website, Vogue.com, in 1996.
The website extended the American fashion magazine into the early commercial internet era. It allowed Vogue to publish fashion news, runway coverage, photography, beauty stories, and cultural features beyond the print magazine’s monthly schedule.
Vogue.com is sometimes confused with later Vogue digital projects, including Vogue’s video channels and international websites. The 1996 date refers to the launch of Vogue’s official online presence, not the creation of every regional Vogue website.
The move was part of a broader digital transformation at Condé Nast. Over time, Vogue’s online operation developed into a continuously updated publication, while the print edition retained its role as a slower, more curated fashion record.
