In what year did Snapchat introduce Stories?
Answer
2013
Answer
2013
Snapchat introduced Stories in 2013. The feature, launched in October of that year as “My Story,” let users assemble individual photo and video Snaps into a chronological sequence that friends could view for 24 hours.
Stories changed Snapchat from a private, one-to-one messaging service into a format for sharing a temporary narrative with a wider audience. Unlike a direct Snap, a Story could be watched by multiple friends, and viewers could move through the posts in sequence.
The idea became one of Snapchat’s defining innovations, although it was later copied widely by other platforms. Instagram introduced Instagram Stories in 2016, followed by similar products from Facebook, WhatsApp, and YouTube. This later popularity sometimes causes people to remember Snapchat’s feature as a 2015 or 2016 invention.
“My Story” was the personal version. Snapchat later expanded the concept through Our Story, publisher content, Discover, and other public-facing formats.
