Pokémon X and Y became the first Pokémon games with a simultaneous worldwide release in 2013.
The two Nintendo 3DS role-playing games launched globally in October 2013. Their international release strategy differed from earlier Pokémon games, which typically arrived in Japan first and reached other regions months later.
X and Y introduced the Kalos region, inspired by France, and added the sixth generation of Pokémon. Their new features included Mega Evolution, Fairy-type Pokémon, character customization, and fully polygonal 3D environments.
The games were announced in January 2013 through a Nintendo Direct presentation. X features the legendary Pokémon Xerneas, while Y features Yveltal. Despite being paired versions, both share the same core adventure and generation-wide innovations.
